The feathers of ducks are impermeable to water, it just falls off.   In the same way we cannot allow ourselves to wallow in self pity.      We have to throw off self doubt and hopelessness and be compassionate and kind to ourselves.   Loving ourselves and accepting ourselves without reservation allows us to see others with a compassionate eye.
