The old is about to die

The new waits to take its place

Time slips away like a slithering snake

It is here today

gone tomorrow

It creates a void in our hearts

 

The door closes on 2015

and opens to 2016

Change carries with it the gift

of self assessment

and reflection

 

New Years resolutions are made

We make plans for change

Change is always in motion

like the wind and the waves

This time is ours to use

or to abuse

 

We can spend it in self assessment

and reflection

or in avarice and greed

Time is not retrievable

 

Thanks to the old year

for all the gifts it brought

whether sorrow or joy

These were lessons well learned

Bye to the old

Long live the new
