For people who were trafficked to South America and the West Indies, I hope I haven’t excluded anyone, today marks the day we were emancipated. We need to ask ourselves: How can one declare the right to themselves to keep another being chained in perpetuity because they believe it is right to do so, and pass laws that sanctions it? As we contemplate the significance of this day let us pledge to free all people, and all other living entities from the shackles of those who are in the business of necromancy. Only those who dwell in darkness refuse to see and acknowledge the light.
