No one is entitled to a free pass.  People are not tools that can be reused as need be.  We are living, breathing entitles who deserves the same respect we mete out to others.   Spring cleaning is not only related to house keeping, relationships familiar or otherwise needs to be evaluated as to their  relevance in our lives.   Quality not quantity is what we should aspire to.
